Advantages of Bellows Seal
Friday 28th August 2020
Let's take a look at the advantages of using a Bellow Seal instead of a Mechanical seal.
There are a couple of advantages to having a bellow seal instead of the standard mechanical seal. Filton use a Bellows seal within all their standard Rotary Unions, the operating temperature range can be between -20⁰C to +300⁰C.
The advantages are;
- A Bellows seal does not require an elastomeric ‘O’ Ring which can limit the operating temperature and chemical compatibility.
- A Bellows seal does not have any moving parts with close clearances which could seize due to corrosion or debris within the system.
