Rotary Unions in the Packaging and Paper Industry
Thursday 16th December 2021
Take a look at how our Unions are used in the Packaging and Paper Industry
Rotary Unions are used in all aspects of the manufacture of packaging products, i.e. paper, coated paper, bubble plastic, boxes and tapes.
Paper and coated paper – Rotary Unions are used to either heat or cool the roll whilst the product passes over it. This allows the base paper to be coated with various products. This could be to coat one or both sides of the paper with adhesive or non-adhesive products. An example of a non-adhesive product would be silicone coated release paper, an example of an adhesive product would be double sided tape.
Corrugated Board – Rotary Unions are used to heat the roll to dry the product, they are almost always used in steam applications.
Bubble Plastic – Rotary Unions are used to cool the roll as the plastic passes over to form the bubbles. The roll has various forms to create the bubble.
Adhesive Tape – Rotary Unions are used to either heat or cool the roll whilst the product passes over it, this allows the adhesive to adhere to the base material.
