Torque Reduction

Wednesday 18th January 2023

Today’s blog takes a look at the importance of torque reduction.

Torque can sometimes become an issue in various processes, this is because more power is needed to turn the roll and spindle within your Rotary Union.

Torque reduction can be necessary in unpowered rolls to allow material to power the roll as it passes over.

Torque can be lowered by reducing the compression of the seal, different seal materials and also by looking at the lubrication.

Sometimes there can be higher torque, for example in carbon bearing unions and unions operating under higher pressures. If high torque is unavoidable a torque arrestor may need to be used.
