What is a Rotary Union?

Monday 19th August 2019

The basics of a Rotary Union and the Industries where they can be used.

What is a Rotary Union?

A Rotary Union, also referred to as a Rotary Coupling or Rotary Joint, is a rotary sealing device that connects rotating equipment to fixed piping which allows the transfer of different mediums (steam, water, air, etc…) .

Where can a Rotary Union be used?

If you don’t know what a Rotary Union is, you may not know where it can be used and in what industries. Rotary Unions are used to help produce many products which we use every day. From the packaging for our crisps or the food in our fridges, to the wallpaper on our walls.

In what industries would you find a Rotary Union?

-          Packaging and Paper Converting

-          Printing

-          Rubber

-          Steel

-          Textiles

-          Paper Making

-          Food

-          Plastic

That’s just a few of the industries where a Rotary Union can be used. We have posted some blogs already on some of the industries but will be posting more to cover how a Rotary Union can be used.
