A Fond Farewell
Wednesday 23rd November 2022
This week we say GOODBYE to one of our longest serving team members – Tony Ward our Sales Engineer has decided to retire.
Tony joined Filton in 1971 as an apprentice, straight from school. He even met the Filton founder Will Murray.
He spent time in various roles around the site; in production, as a draughtsman and as Assistant Works Manager. This experience proved invaluable when he finally found his calling as a Sales Engineer. Initially Tony only covered the Midlands area but when the need for on the road Sales Engineers dropped Tony happily expanded his role to cover the whole of the UK.
Tony has brought his own style to the job. He has built positive relationships with our customers around the UK and has always been on hand to offer advice and suggestions, even answering the phone whilst sitting by the pool!
He has always been keen to share his knowledge with the Sales Support team and anyone else who will listen! Organising visits for the team to some of our customers to help product knowledge and explaining how things work in a simple way. His enthusiasm for Filton and our products has been infectious.
Adding laughter to Filton events, Tony has always been happy to entertain. Few of us will ever forget his singing which was closely followed by his attempt at ‘the caterpillar’ on the dance floor of a Christmas party.
One of those people who enjoys dressing up Tony sported a fetching red number not long ago.
Tony will be missed by the whole Filton team and we wish him well for his next adventure.
