Lubricating your Rotary Union
Monday 22nd November 2021
Take a look at why it is important to lubricate your Rotary Union.
Lubrication is done to preserve the life of your Rotary Union. Lubrication i.e. grease is essential to achieve the proper operation of ball bearings within Filton RE, PB and REB Rotary Unions. The grease will reduce friction between the internal sliding surfaces of the bearings components and reduce or prevent metal-to-metal contact of the rolling elements with their raceways. Correct lubrication reduces wear and prevents corrosion, ensuring long service life for the bearings within our Rotary Unions.
Temperature and speed can affect the frequency in which your Rotary Union will need to be lubricated. To establish the recommended frequency you will need to contact your grease supplier.
Filton Rotary Unions are supplied pre-lubricated with Total Multis Complex EP 2 grease, unless specified. Our customers can request for the Rotary Union to be unlubricated; this is generally done if a customer prefers to use a particular grease. Different industries may require the use of a certain grease, i.e. food quality grease in the food industry.
If you have any queries on lubricating your Rotary Unions you can contact us either by phone on +44 1926 423191 or emailing us on sales@filtonltd.co.uk or technical@filtonltd.co.uk
